CB transmissions sometimes cut off

the 10 of us were touring to another state and used the motorcycle intercom to communicate
the thing is that one of my friends' CB transmissions sometimes cuts off after a couple of words when he transmits

we use the push to talk too sometimes to turn on the intercom and change the radio station
Do you guys have any ideas why the CB transmission sometimes cuts off and how to fix this?

Likely a wiring or connection issue with your friends CB mic or push to talk switch. Sometimes a loose wire or faulty button can cause the transmission to cut out. I’d start by checking those connections and testing the mic on another unit if possible. Hope that helps

Agree. It's also possible that the antenna's SWR isn't quite right. Plus, using the PTT for both the intercom and the CB might be creating some conflicts. Has he thought about testing the radio on its own without the intercom connected?

In our case, it turned out to be a combo of mic placement and the PTT timing ,your buddy hits transmit and starts talking too fast, the signal might not fully latch on before the audio kicks in, check if the CB antenna is grounded properly or if the cable's loose anywhere

Probably weak or dirty PTT switch or a loose connection, have your friend check the PTT button and wiring for wear or dirt

I'd also suspect the same things they mentioned. Have you checked your friend's mic connection or if the PTT button itself is sticky or worn? It could also be an internal wiring issue with the CB unit itself or even a power fluctuation if it's not getting consistent voltage. But if the easy fixes don't work, he might need to have the unit looked at by a shop!
