My bike mates all have Garmin Zumo GPS but I don't wanna go down that route. I feel like I can use a phone for it with a mount? And is it also ok if I'll charge it from the glove box? If not then what are other cheap options that are more sustainable?

Using your phone with a solid mount should work just fine, and charging from the glove box is okay if its weatherproof and reliable. Just watch for overheating. For a tougher setup, best to consider a rugged phone or a budget GPS like TomTom Rider. Have you tested your phone on longer rides yet?

If you're looking for a more sustainable and cost-effective alternative, you might want to check out a dedicated GPS device like the Garmin Zumo 396. It's built for tough weather and comes with a display that's easy to handle, even with gloves on.
